UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities 3rd December 2015

Celebrated annually worldwide since 1992, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) works in promoting inclusion and accessibility and raising awareness of issues facing the disabled population. This years theme is 'Inclusion Matters: access and empowerment for people of all abilities'.

This years event works in raising awareness of the participation issues the estimated 1billion people living with disabilities face in society.

With a growing population of people living in cities worldwide the day highlights 'The New Urban Agenda'  an opportunity to consider how cities can be developed to enhance inclusivity and accessibility for all, including those with disabilities.

The day also hopes to raise awareness of the issues facing those with 'Invisible Disabilities' such as mental health and psychosocial issues and how this population can be better included in society.
